Illinois` elderly and blind become a windfall for the state under the federal tax reform, which allows these individuals only a single exemption instead of a double, as previously.

Reflected in the Illinois reform, this in effect, adds $1,000 to taxable income. Figured at the present rate of 2 1/2 percent, it means a $25 increase for the elderly and blind.
