Your editorial of April 23 entitled ”Deporting a Nazi war criminal” is extremely naive and overly simple. It amazes me how you accept the statement

”overwhelmingly supported” evidence in reference to Mr. Linnas`

deportation without qualifying this with the fact that a majority of the evidence was supplied by out ”trusted ally,” the Soviet Union.

Yes, we can assume that evidence supplied by the Soviet Union against Mr. Linnas is accurate-about as accurate as the early Soviet reports from Chernobyl or the utopian life currently led by Lithuanians, Latvians and Estonians under Soviet rule.

I must agree with you that ”there is no need to feel qualms” about Mr. Linnas` deportation-we should be appalled!
