On May 18, an article appeared in the paper to supposedly inform readers of Britain`s economy and what chances Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher has of winning the upcoming election. It was headlined ”Trouble economy key to Thatcher`s legacy” and was written by Ray Moseley.
He relates many people`s opinions of Margaret Thatcher but never informs the reader to whom the opinions belong. He says, ” . . . a man with wide experience in foreign affairs said”, ”one colleague said . . . ”, ”one former Cabinet colleague said . . . ”, one associate said . . . ”, ”but a man long involved in diplomacy said . . . ”, ”another former official said,” and finally, ”this former official said.”
I have two questions: Why are their names never mentioned and why should I trust these unknown people`s opinion more than my next door neighbor`s?
Without giving me this information, the article has no use.
