In his May 11 letter, Richard A. Mugalian accused Raymond Coffey of further embarrassing himself in his response to Studs Terkel`s complaint about U.S. policies in Central America, especially Nicaragua.

I am constantly amazed at people like Terkel and Mugalian. They are outraged at our nation`s alleged immoral behavior in Nicaragua, yet where is their outrage and condemnation when the Sandinistas incarcerate and torture thousands whose only purpose is constructive political dissension? Is this the self-determination you refer to, Mr. Mugalian? I believe it is called totalitarianism.

I guess it will always be the fashion of the American Left to ”bash”

the country that provides them the very platform for their own peculiar dissension.
