The Illinois General Assembly wants to give its committee chairmen and its political ”leaders” cash bonuses–for no valid reason. This same group wants to let each member (177 of them) hire a legislative assistant at $18,000 (starting salary)–for no valid reason. Gov. Thompson gives his highly paid staff members higher-than-justified pay raises–for no valid reason.
And then they all join together to demand new taxes to pay for state expenses.
This ”leadership” should (but never will) stop pandering to its own self-indulgence and begin serving the people who, with their votes, believed
(foolishly) they might get integrity, honesty, ethics and principles into government instead of greed, grabbing and grossness.
