In your recent editorial with its list of critical comments on the limping lame-duck, movie cowboy, you decide about midway that you must try to placate the ”Reaganuts” by faulting our allies and insulting the Democrats. You state ”that Mr. Reagan`s decision to defend himself against personal failure where there was none is an alarming signal about the condition of his presidency.” While agreeing that the presidency is in sad shape, I strongly disagree that there was no personal failure. What about: (1) a messed-up policy (or lack of policy) in the Mideast that has caused a considerable loss of U.S. lives and credibility, (2))a personal vendetta in Central America carried out by hired killers and White House cowboys and (3) a doubling or tripling of the national debt in the past six years?
