— 1957–Down 2-1 in the 8th, beat Tigers 4-2 at Detroit on Larry Doby`s 2-out, 3-run homer off Frank Lary. Billy Pierce (11-6) goes route for victory. Doby and Minnie Minoso both go 3-for-4.
— 1967–Joe Sparma (9-1) throws 6-hitter, Mickey Stanley and Bill Freehan homer and 2d-place Tigers win 3-0 in Detroit to cut Sox`s AL lead to 4 1/2 games. Loser Gary Peters fans 11, allows only 3 hits in 7 innings.
— 1977–Jim Spencer hits 2 homers and, for 2d time in `77, drives in 8 runs in a game as Sox beat Twins 13-8 at Comiskey Park to take 1-game lead in AL West. Spencer hits grand slam in 4th and 2-run shot during Sox`s 7-run 8th- inning rally.
