Whoever said that he couldn`t see the forest for the trees may well have had the Goetz case in mind.
Things do not happen ”just because.” If Goetz had not had a reason to fear for his safety, he would not have been carrying a revolver while riding the subway; and if those ”rambunctious kids” had not been so eager to add to their list of prior offenses, they would all be well today–which leads me to believe that it`s not Goetz`s acquittal we should be arguing over, but how best to resolve the problems that led to the shooting incident in the first place.
