In a June 24 Tribune story on the legislature`s approval of a measure to prohibit dispensation of contraceptives at school-based clinics, I am reported to have said that fewer than 40 students who have used the health clinics at DuSable and Orr High Schools have received contraceptives.

I did not mention that number. In fact, when asked by the Tribune reporter if 50 percent of the students receiving services at the clinic could be said to have received contraceptives, I responded that it was more on the order of 10 percent. That figure is borne out in status reports on the DuSable and Orr clinics for the 1986-87 school year. The reports indicate that 8 percent of the students at the DuSable clinic received family planning services, and 11 percent of the students at the Orr clinic received those same services. This underscores the comprehensive nature of the health care services provided at the clinics.
