A year ago, I would have laughed at the idea of tax credits for residents who insulate their homes against jet plane noise. However, with the new take- off procedure adopted by United Airlines, I now feel I will have to lobby for these funds.

Glen Ellyn, Lombard, Downers Grove, Villa Park and perhaps Westmont and Lisle are now the victims of unbearable noise resulting from aircraft when they ”thrust” over the area. United presents this procedure as a noise abatement program and I`m sure areas around O`Hare are very pleased. This procedure was to cut noise 50 percent from 2 miles to 6-8 miles out, leaving us, in the 8- to 10-mile area, with the incredibly loud and annoying take-off thrust noise.
