Brian Bosworth, who originally said he would not play for the Seattle Seahawks, now says he would be happy to play for them if the terms are right. Agent Gary Wichard said he expected to receive Seattle`s offer next Wednesday. Wichard reiterated he would not negotiate. He said he was assured by the Seahawks that the team would attempt to trade Bosworth if a satisfactory financial agreement cannot be reached.
The St. Louis Cardinals have sold 27,005 season tickets, the lowest total since the National Football League team began playing at Busch Stadium in 1966. The figure represents a decrease of 4,228 from this time last year and more than 10,000 from the 1985 figure.
Former Kansas City Chiefs running back Warren McVea was sentenced to four years in prison in Houston after a judge revoked his eight-year probation because McVea tested positive for cocaine a few days after leaving a drug rehabilitation program in May. Despite the four-year sentence, McVea probably will serve only 30 to 45 days in the Texas Department of Corrections, because he is being given credit for time served in the Harris County Jail.

A second-string U.S. swimming team won the women`s 400-meter medley relay for the Americans` first gold medal at the 14th World Summer University Games in Zagreb, Yugoslavia. The four Americans–Jennifer Pokluda, Suzanne Roell, Michelle Branchaud and Ann Drolsom–won the only gold medal captured by U.S. swimmers on the opening day of the competition. Their time was 4 minutes 14.38 seconds. The U.S. is being represented here by its second-line team because its top stars are resting for the Pan American Games, scheduled for next month in Indianapolis. Soviet gymnast Yuri Korolev won the men`s all-around title and led the USSR to the team gold.

Hydroplane driver Steve Reynolds, who suffered a fractured skull and other injuries in a crash during Sunday`s Madison Regatta in Indianapolis, has started responding to simple commands, a hospital spokesman said. Reynolds`
condition was upgraded from critical to serious.

Milwaukee Bucks Owner Herb Kohl says his club will contact the NBA office in coming weeks about getting compensation from the Golden State Warriors for former coach Don Nelson. Nelson resigned as coach of the Bucks after last season, citing his increasingly heated differences with Kohl over management of the team. He now is a part owner and vice president with the Warriors. Nelson`s contract, which had three years remaining, included a provision preventing him from becoming a coach or director of player personnel with another NBA team for two years if he left the Bucks. Kohl said he anticipated any compensation the Bucks might eventually receive would be less significant than if Nelson had gone to another NBA team as a coach.

The All American Bowl is returning to a pre-Christmas date and has lined up a television network to replace Turner Broadcasting System. The game will be played on Dec. 22 and will be televised by Raycom Sports, an independent network based in Charlotte, N.C. The last two All American games were held on New Year`s Eve at the request of TBS, which did not pick up its option to renew its contract. The bowl, begun in 1977, was played before Christmas until the last two years.
