Thomas Monaghan, the tycoon who has boosted his Domino`s Pizza Inc. into a top spot in the home-delivery food market, is asking officials in Ann Arbor, Mich., for approval to build a leaning, 430-foot tall headquarters. What would the structure be called? Inevitably, jokesters are describing it as the
”leaning tower of pizza.”
The building would tilt 15 degrees to the east much like the Italian landmark, the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Architect Gunner Birkerts said it would be ”a landmark building for Ann Arbor and for Domino`s. It is intended to excite people, to be remembered, to be described–a building you may want to come back to.”
