Bulk garbage pickups were scheduled to resume on Saturday in half the city`s 50 wards, according to a spokeswoman for the Department of Streets and Sanitation. The remaining 25 wards will be serviced beginning next Saturday, she said. The cleanup, employing 250 city trucks, will run between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Wards to receive bulk pickups Saturday were the 1st through 5th, 11th and 12th, 14th through 16th, 20th, 22d, 24th through 33d, 35th, 37th and 42d. Bulk pickups were temporarily halted two weeks ago in a budget crunch. The Chicago City Council has since approved a transfer of about $2.5 million to pay for the operation. Meanwhile, the sanitation department continued its cleanup of an illegal dump near 82d Street and Wallace Avenue. The cleanup is expected to be completed by Wednesday, the spokeswoman said.
