Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Cubs President Dallas Green would like to see the seven players called up from Class-AAA Iowa integrated into the team`s game plan for the remaining month of the season.

Asked if Gene Michael`s apparently tentative managing status should affect the way he deploys the young players, Green told WGN Radio:

”Whether you`re managing for 30 days or the next 10 years, I think it`s time to find out what`s happening with the future. And the future may well be now. I think that what you do is mix them in and play them like they are part of your team.”

Green reiterated his stand on making a decision on Michael`s job status:

”We`re going to try to wait until the end of the year and make an evaluation at that time,” Green said.

Darren Riley walked with the bases loaded to break a 3-3 tie and start a seven-run seventh inning that helped the Vermont Reds to a 10-8 victory over the Pittsfield Cubs at Burlington, Vt., eliminating the Class-AA Eastern League regular-season champions from the playoffs.
