Dolly Parton`s ”Wildflowers,” which is part of her new album, ”Trio,” is about her own life. In Philip Morris magazine, she explains that ”(the song is) about a girl down there in Tennessee, wanting something, wanting more. I knew there was something waiting for me, but I had to follow it to find it. It`s still waiting, and I still haven`t settled down yet. So I`ll just keep going, following it. Like I said in the song, wildflowers don`t care where they grow.”
Just to prove that there are some people out there who really can`t get enough of Elvis, here comes ”Elvis World” (Knopf), by Jane and Michael Stern. It has everything. Including a recipe for Elvis` favorite snack (fried peanut-butter-and-banana sandwich); a photo of Graceland with all of Elvis`
cars lined up in the driveway, keys in the ignitions, the way he liked them;
and a list of items from the Elvis Hall of Fame in Gatlinburg, Tenn.: his X-rays, checkbook stubs, bath towels and hankies. Items for sale include photocopies of Elvis` weekly shopping lists and karate-school diploma.

(”Tootsie”) Pollack writes about meeting Sanford Meisner, the illustrious acting teacher and author of the book: ”It was 1952, and I was 18 years old and had blundered into his classes at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York. Nothing had prepared me for the intensity of this experience. It wasn`t that he was harsh or mean; it was only that he was so frighteningly accurate. . . .
