The Chicago Teachers Union is seeking a two-year contract with a 10 percent and 5 percent pay increase respectively. As a public employee who works for the Illinois Department of Mental Health, I find the ”poor me”

attitude of the Chicago school teachers a bit much to take.

Sure, conditions in the public schools across this country have deteriorated, and anyone who follows the pitfalls of the country`s educational system as a whole sees the need for increased monies.

However, compare a Chicago school teacher with a bachelor`s degree to a master`s-degreed clinical therapist working with those of society who are neither understood nor wanted, and I will show you who is in need of substantial wage increases.
