Your sports writer Mike Kiley apparently got very desperate for a lead on his article about the Bears on Sept. 4, and included a point that is decidedly unfair and decidedly misleading.
His lead claims that hazing is an ”accepted and expected” irritant in pledging a fraternity, as well as perhaps in football.
Hazing is a thing of the past in the vast majority of today`s college fraternities. Comments such as Kiley`s only make more difficult the constant task of keeping it a thing of the past, given the constantly changing group of students with which fraternities are consistently confronted.
