Wondering when cable television will come to your neighborhood? The Nielsen Station Index reports that 34.6 percent of the homes in the Chicago metropolitan area have cable television, the second lowest penetration among 209 metropolitan areas surveyed in July. Only Alexandria, Minn., has a lower percentage of homes wired for cable. The top spots? Those meccas of outdoor fun: Palm Springs and Santa Barbara, Calif., where 83.1 and 82.2 percent of homes had cable, respectively.
