I feel compelled to respond to Patrick O`Brien`s ”Bork Syndrome” of Sept 23.
Prof. Bork, Judge Bork and potentially Justice Bork are still all Robert Bork. To divide the man into three people is a sophistry of the first order. The question is: What does Robert Bork believe, or how many men did President Reagan nominate?
Bork`s presentation of himself verges on schizophrenic and makes it impossible to determine, even in a general way, what sort of justice he will be. If we do not know who (or which) this man is, then he should not be confirmed.
