Cubs President Dallas Green acknowledged Saturday that former Cleveland manager Pat Corrales was interviewed for the Cubs` managing position last week.
”Pat is one of the people who has applied,” Green told WGN radio.
Green repeated that he plans to make a managerial decision by the time the winter meetings begin in early December.
”I`m not going to drag out if we narrow it down to a comfortable two or three,” said Green. ”I`m not going to wait forever for people to apply.”
Green added that he plans to go to the Instructional League soon to talk to Billy Williams, who is managing a Cubs` club in Arizona.
Rick Sutcliffe will not start Sunday`s season finale. Instead, Jamie Moyer will go against the Expos` Pascual Perez.
Manager Frank Lucchesi found something else to praise Andre Dawson for. ”He is even the best in the training room as far as taking treatments,” Lucchesi said. ”He`s always there on time. It shows his discipline and dedication.”
