In response to remarks suggesting that Chicago teachers are overpaid considering the ”product that we turn out,” think about this hypothetical experiment:
Take a school where the students are high achievers (maybe some wealthy suburb), and swap the teachers at that school with the teachers at a typical Chicago public school. Change nothing else. Do you think the scores at the
”bright” school would plummet and the scores of the Chicago students would skyrocket?
