Former Nevada-Las Vegas basketball recruit Lloyd Daniels was fined $800 Tuesday for attempting to buy cocaine in February. Daniels, 19, who was originally charged with a felony, pleaded guilty in June to a reduced misdemeanor charge of attempting to possess a controlled substance. At the time of his plea, Justice of the Peace James Kelly said if Daniels, a first-time offender, remained drug free for 90 days, the misdemeanor citation would be erased from his record. Prosecutors, however, said urine tests performed in July revealed traces of cocaine and marijuana. Daniels recently signed a contract to play in the Continental Basketball Association.
