Golfer Payne Stewart has been fined $38.50 for not having a Georgia fishing license during a weekend outing on Lake Oliver-but he ended up with a net gain of $2,338.50 after winning $2,377 at the Southern Open. Stewart was in Columbus, Ga., for the golf tournament when he was cited by game warden Randy Hackley, who was making a routine check of boats last Friday. Most people caught in that situation would lie in an attempt to avoid a fine, Hackley said. But not Stewart. ”He said, `I haven`t got a license,` ” the warden said. Stewart was fishing with an Alabama man whose boat registration had expired, Hackley said, but he only warned the man about that violation. ”I didn`t want to burden the vessel with too many citations,” the warden said.
