The parking ticket fine for illegally using one of Roselle`s commuter lots has been increased to $25 from $10.
The increase, effective immediately, applies to lots at the Milwaukee Road commuter station. A violator who pays the ticket within 10 days will face a fine of only $15.
The Roselle Village Board unanimously approved the increase Monday.
Assistant Village Manager Steve Jones told the board`s Finance Committee last week that the lots have spaces for 729 cars. On any given day, he said, the number of illegally parked cars ranges from 9 to 31.
The board also approved spending $50,000 to remove silt and sediment from Turner Pond, on Roselle Park District land at Roselle Road and Granville Avenue. The board earlier had voted to spend $50,000 to deepen the three-acre pond.
The additional funds will be used to remove more mud buildup and begin restoration of the pond`s banks.
The village expects that the pond will store up to 3 million gallons of water during rainstorms, Village Administrator Glenn Spachman said.
