The myths and legends surrounding the Titanic, which sank in the North Atlantic 75 years ago, come under scrutiny again Wednesday night (7 p.m. on WGN-Ch. 9) when Telly Savalas hosts, from Paris, ”Return to the Titanic . . . Live.”
Through interviews, viewers will visit the Belfast shipyard where the Titanic was built, hear an eyewitness account of the ship`s launch and hear a survivor`s harrowing retelling of the luxury liner`s sinking. Viewers also will get a look at many of the 200 or more artifacts recovered by a French team that returned to the site of the sinking to photograph the wreckage and retrieve objects. One of those objects is a purser`s safe, which will be opened on the air.
