The Iowa test scores recently released by the Chicago Board of Education represent another effort to deceive the parents of Chicago.
Aside from the usual ”prepreparation” for these tests and the overt cheating, the results of special education children`s tests are not included. The overwhelming number of these children have normal IQs and the ability to function at or above grade level. Our system simply isn`t teaching them.
Furthermore, any child awaiting evaluation is also omitted from these results. A school can easily remove the bottom scores and quickly refer these names for evaluation, significantly raising the overall achievement level of the school.
We believe a random evaluation by an outside source is needed to get an honest report on the achievement-or lack of achievement-of Chicago public school students.
