Gov. James Thompson says (”Education fund veto upheld,” Nov. 6): ”What (the vote upholding the veto) does say to the people who want to spend more money for education, as I do, is that the money must be there first.”
Isn`t it strange that the money is always there whenever the governor wants to increase his office budget, provide higher-than-normal pay hikes to his staff workers and spend taxpayer dollars for his self-indulgence?
Isn`t it strange that the money is always there whenever the legislature wants to provide itself with pay hikes, bigger offices, more office budgets/
equipment/personnel and those special ”bonus” payments because they, the legislators, deserve them?
