I agree that editorials and political cartoonists ought to attempt to be

”fair” or at least intellectually honest, so one can only assume from her letter (Nov. 12) that Illinois feminist leader, Sharon Hayes, would vociferously attack any cartoonist`s stereotyping of our military leaders as being ”bloated” with weapons or money, or ”continually” invading areas around the world. Should I hold my breath?

Unfortunately, almost all political cartooning is based on the cheap shot-see Doonesbury on George Bush. I may be cynical but I strongly suspect Ms. Hayes` high dudgeon is grounded in ideological mania, not fairness.
