Within 25 miles of the Chicago Loop there are hundreds of excellent public schools. They all have 1) a community that is dedicated to and involved in the educational process; 2) a nondisruptive student population committed to learning; 3) a strong principal empowered to make decision; 4) a qualified, dedicated teaching staff with respectable salaries. How many of the Chicago public schools have even one of these attributes?
