A recent Gallup survey shows that most homeowners are uninformed about adequate energy-saving measures.

According to the poll of about 600 owners of single-family homes:

– Almost 70 percent of homeowners were not aware of the recommended insulation R-values for their part of the country.

R-value is a measure of insulation`s resistance to heat flow. The higher the R-value, the greater the insulating power.

– The basement, a leading source of heat loss in the home, was rarely mentioned as an important place to insulate.

– Seventy-four percent said they had no idea how much it costs to insulate attics with R-25 insulation. –
