NBC has joined CBS and ABC in the who`s-on-first derby by adding two new hour-long series to its prime-time schedule, dropping two shows and switching nights with yet two more.

Joining the schedule on Feb. 12 at 9 p.m. will be ”Sonny Spoon,” an hour-long show described as a story about an unorthodox private eye who solves crimes in a novel manner. It stars Mario Van Peebles. On March 4, ”The Highwayman” will debut from 7-8 p.m., with Sam Jones as an undercover law enforcement officer who operates out of a high-tech 18-wheeler.

The new shows will replace the highly touted but low rated ”Private Eye,” starring Michael Woods and Josh Brolin, which will have its last telecast on Jan. 15, and ”Rags to Riches,” which will have its last airing on Jan. 22. Specials will fill the weeks until the new shows debut.

NBC also said that ”J.J. Starbuck” will move to Saturdays, 9-10 p.m., on Dec. 26, replacing ”Hunter,” which will move to Tuesdays from 8-9 p.m. on Dec. 29.
