Ron Liebman is preparing himself for the controversy he expects will arise out of ”Terrorist on Trial,” the CBS-Ch. 2 movie scheduled to air on Jan. 10.
The picture, costarring Sam Waterston and Robert Davi, features Liebman as a Jewish lawyer who`s asked to defend an Arab terrorist.
”The film is pushing buttons,” Liebman says. ”I`ve had journalists tell me they find it disgraceful that I`d even agree to portray a lawyer who defends a terrorist. I say, if I play Richard III, does that make me a murderer?”
Liebman says he took the part because ”it`s an extraordinary role about a lawyer who would like to strangle this guy, yet believes very strongly in the system of due process. It`s the best screen role I`ve been offered since
`Norma Rae.”`
