Last fall a contractor had the job of cutting out tree stumps with a machine that was pulled by a small pick-up truck. The driver of the truck would back the trailered equipment up to the stump and then operate the equipment. A one-man operation that took a half-hour for a large tree.
Now the city has taken over this job with new, blue pick-up trucks and equipment, but the difference is that now there are two men and while one of them operates the equipment, the driver sits in the truck reading the paper.
