Raimond Dombrovskis ruptured his appendix last summer, but the injury was discovered last week in West Germany. U.S. hopes for a top showing in next month`s Olympics suffered their second blow in three days when Doug Lewis broke his left collarbone during a crash on an alpine World Cup course at Val d`Isere, France. Lewis, 23, was inspecting the course when he hit a Soviet making video recordings. Teammate Jeff Olson said: ”You`re not supposed to be flying down the course during inspection. Now we`ve hardly got any veterans left on the team.”

”I don`t like Horner. Of his lifetime homers, about 70 percent were hit in Atlanta. He never could hit in St. Louis. He can`t hit and he can`t field.

Two days after the Yankees signed Clark, they lost pitcher Bill Gullickson. He said no to their final offer and headed for Japan, where he is expected to sign a two-year contract for $3.3 million with the Tokyo Giants.
