For the first time since Soap Opera Digest introduced its annual accolades in 1976, the awards ceremony event will be carried by a network. The show, to be taped in L.A. on Jan. 16, will air two days later on NBC from 3 to 5 p.m. Previously, the festivities ran in syndication.
The winners, chosen by the magazine`s readers, are based on editors`
nominations in 21 daytime and prime-time categories. CBS led the pack with 34 (including 20 for prime time). ABC had 14 (four for prime time), and NBC, which doesn`t have a prime-time soap-tsk, tsk-had 15.
