In the wake of 1987, the year of the President who knows nothing and remembers nothing, it was refreshing to read Mitchell Locin`s article on Sen. Paul Simon`s economic policy statements. Perhaps the most revealing line about this would-be president is the one about the 13-page ”white paper” that he wrote himself.

To have a candidate who fully grasps the issues, who can be articulate with ideas and plans and not just platitudes is very impressive after eight years of the so-called Great Communicator. That quality, plus his commitment to increased funding for education, has made me a Simon supporter.
