British publisher Robert Maxwell said he is interested in acquiring a U.S. publishing company, but he ruled out a takeover bid for McGraw-Hill Inc.. He thus threw cold water on some hot rumors that had caused the price of McGraw-Hill stock to soar recently. Czechoslovakian-born Maxwell has said his ambition is to make his firm one of the biggest global media groups.
