Shelby Williams Industries Inc., the subject of takeover interest, said it has rejected the idea of being acquired and instead will pursue its acquisitions. The Chicago-based furniture company, which in October hired Salomon Brothers Inc. to review its alternatives, said it wants to remain independent in light of current market conditions.
