Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

I wish to express my appreciation to family, friends, the editors of this paper and its readers for the support I received during my two-year child support battle.

After writing to state and local officials for a year and a half with little response, I went to The Tribune`s column page with my story to let the public know what was happening in its courtrooms. Your readers put pressure on the state`s attorney`s Bureau of Child Support to put an end to the delays. In my case, it worked.

Through an emergency court order, I should receive regular support payments beginning in April. After two long, frustrating years, I feel as if a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders, and I thank the public for saying, ”We will not let our officials forget our children.”

The only advice I can offer other mothers in my situation is keep going, be persistent, keep accurate records and follow up on every lead possible. It`s a long, hard, tiring battle, but it is one you can win.
