Zenith Electronics Corp. ”should return to profitability” in 1988, assuming consumer electronics sales volume is close to 1987`s level and there isn`t further erosion in pricing, wrote Zenith Chairman Jerry K. Pearlman in the Glenview company`s just-released annual report. Zenith has lost money the last three years, including $19.1 million in 1987. Pearlman also said Zenith`s 1988 capital spending should be about $50 million, down from $55 million last year.
