Archer-Daniels-Midland Co., the big grain processor, has acquired a new technology that can make plastic decompose. A patent covering the technology, acquired from British sources who were not identified, has been applied for in the United States, Decatur-based ADM said. The plastic could be used in garbage bags that are placed in landfills. Currently, plastic garbage bags do not decompose.
