Reference is made to the article on the topic of zoning published in the April 27 issue of The Chicago Tribune on Page 1 by Cheryl Devall and Dean Baquet. The reporters failed to mention the main focus of my argument concerning the so-called ”reform” ordinances, and that is that under the proposed reform, zoning amendments sponsored by the mayor or the aldermen would require that nearby property owners be notified by first-class mail, rather than certified mail, return receipt requestd.

Such a proposal, if adopted, smacks of tyranny. Talk about pulling the wool over the public`s eyes. In my opinion, property owners should be notified of the filing of zoning amendments by certified mail, return receipt requested, irrespective of who the applicant is, private or public.
