Liberal columnists are fond of asking if Jesse Jackson`s candidacy is really addressing the question: Can a black man become president of the United States? I suggest that they take the question one step further: Can a white man become mayor of Newark, Gary, Atlanta, Detroit, Philadelphia or Chicago?
