Archer Daniels Midland Co. said Friday that it will build a new grain elevator in Joliet to replace the one destroyed in an explosion that killed five men April 22. The company has designed a structure roughly equal in size to the old elevator, which had four 100-foot high silos and a grain dryer, ADM spokesman Dick Burket said. State and federal investigators have yet to determine the cause of the explosion that destroyed the old elevator, but they suspect volatile grain dust touched off the blast.
