ail Sheehy, writing about Gov. Dukakis in The Tribune, refers to him as an ”ex-insufferable know-it-all.” A careful reading of her assumptions, and presumptions, might cause one to apply the same phrase to her, with the ”ex” deleted.
Her description of the United States as ”a nation sliding into the twilight of its supremacy” is an outrageous assumption, unsupported by any discernible evidence.
She sounds like a verbose amateur psychologist, fascinated with her ability to turn an apt phrase regardless of the validity of its assumptions. Certainly Gov. Dukakis deserves a more accurate psychological analysis.
