A community group has denounced the John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Co.`s plan next year to build a three-story, glass atrium over the plaza in front of the John Hancock Building, the world`s fifth tallest building at 875 N. Michigan Ave. The Streeterville Organization of Active Residents said the atrium would ”take away from the building`s architectural integrity” and that loss of the outdoor plaza would ”create still another link in canyonizing all of Michigan Avenue.”
