The national anthem seemed to be getting a bad rap from everyone as performed at the recent Monday night Cubs ball game. A baritone sang

”America the Beautiful” while team members were televised holding their hats over their hearts.

The next Wednesday Mike Royko commented about the baritone`s singing of

”the national anthem.” At the game, ”The Star Bangled Banner” was performed by a large brass choir from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. A television announcer said the anthem was performed by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (hardly). Even the conductor of the brass choir seemingly needed a score in front of him to conduct the national anthem.

There seems to be a need for establishing more accurate awareness of our national anthem!
