The Open Software Foundation said it will set down roots in Cambridge, Mass., after a three-month search for a place to locate. The group is a consortium of some of the biggest computer firms in the industry and plans to have about 250 employees by the end of 1989. It was founded to develop a standard version of the Unix operating system, independent of American Telephone & Telegraph Co., the creator of Unix.
