A Chicago developer plans to convert a building in downtown Aurora into an office structure featuring a restaurant and retail space at a cost of about $1.5 million, according to mayoral assistant John Savage.

The developer, Jan Koe, is asking the city for $400,000 in funds reserved for downtown development to renovate the Hobbs Building, 2 N. River St., he said. Savage said he expects work to begin in December and that the building will be ready for occupancy September, 1989.
