Bad guys are creating a minor reign of terror in and around our public transportation facilities. Curtis Sliwa`s Guardian Angels are attempting to bolster our defenses.

Good guys are fighting a losing battle to contain the situation while decisionmakers inventory the reasons why the Angels cannot be accepted as a deterrent.

There must be someone who can recognize the wisdom of looking for a way to cooperate with the Angels instead of treating them as renegades. If the Police Department can`t appreciate this, then perhaps Metra, the RTA or the CTA can. They can`t all be allergic to help.

I view the Guardian Angels as a gift to society to be utilized as long as they remain available. A police force should be so lucky as to have a standing detail such as the Angels, to function as an ally rather than as an opponent.
